My Story

This August, I am walking and running every single day for Scleroderma and Raynaud's UK (SRUK), in memory of my mother who battled these conditions for over a decade before passing away last September.

My mother's journey taught me that staying active is an essential component in the fight against these autoimmune conditions. Throughout her battle with Scleroderma and Raynaud's, maintaining movement and activity was crucial for managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life. This August, I'm honouring her memory by committing to walk or run every day, tracking my progress, and raising awareness of conditions that are often misunderstood.

SRUK works to improve the lives of everyone affected by Scleroderma and Raynaud's. Whilst Scleroderma affects approximately 1.5 million people worldwide (including 19,000 in the UK), Raynaud's is even more widespread, affecting around 5% of the global population - that's potentially 400 million people worldwide, with up to 10 million in the UK alone. These numbers represent real people - like my mother - who face daily challenges that many don't see or understand.

My goal is to raise £250 this August whilst demonstrating that staying active, no matter how small the steps, can make a difference. I'll be sharing my daily walks and runs from around South Warwickshire, involving staying active with sport, and showing that movement is medicine.

Please support my fundraising efforts because together we can increase awareness of these conditions and fund life-changing research and support. Every donation will make a difference - not just to the charity, but to families like mine who have watched loved ones fight these battles. Thank you.
